What is ‘Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)’ therapy?

It is the therapeutic application of behavior analysis to behaviors we encounter in everyday life. ABA helps change behavior to a desired direction. It is NOT just one technique, but a scientific approach to understanding why people do what they do and ultimately change their behavior in a way that is beneficial to the growth and development of the individual.

How?

How can Behavior Analysts help me and my loved one?

If there is a behavior, you want to see MORE or LESS of we can create individualized plans to help your loved one meet their goals.

  1. We conduct assessments, observations, and collect data on desired and undesired behaviors.
  2. We work with caregivers to identify the appropriate behavioral approach based on the information we have gathered and analyzed.
  3. We create individualized behavior analysis service plan (BASP) tailored to meet the individual’s needs. All programs are based on scientific research and studies that other BCBAs have published and proven to be effective.
  4. We implement and train the behavior analysis service plan (BASP). We train RBTs and caregivers to implement the service plan.
  5. We monitor the behavior analysis service plan and analyze data to make treatment decisions.
  6. We conduct on-going evaluations to ensure the effectiveness of our behavior analysis service plan and make changes as needed.

Who?

Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs)

  • Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) are professionals that have demonstrated the academic and practical requirements to practice behavior analysis.
  • BCBAs develop, implement, and monitor ABA programs consistent with the guidelines developed by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs)

  • Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) are therapists trained in the scientific principles in ABA. They are closely trained and supervised by behavior analysts to implement ABA techniques.
